Pin-Test

When I saw on Pinterest how to turn your old T-shirts into tank tops
I knew I had to try it...I have so many old, baggy T-shirts that I love but didn't wear.
And now I can wear them all the time!
I've tried 4 T-shirts so far but these two are my favorite!
I followed this tutorial
Basically you just cut out the neck line.
Cut off the sleeves and the hem on the bottom.
Then keep cutting the neck line and sleeve area to your liking.
Start by cutting off an inch at a time and see how you like it.
Then take a scrap of material (I used the hem I cut off) pull it through the back of the arm holes
wrap twice around the gathered material and tie two tight knots.
For my Lakers shirt I used one of my razor back tank tops as a pattern and I think that also helped.

I give this Pin-Test 2 thumbs up!

Motorcycle Ride

Dan took me on my first motorcycle ride
& I loved it!
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it...
it was so cool to ride out in the open air.
You see a lot more than you see riding in a car.
It made me really want to get a scooter!

We rode up in the Uinta mountains,
it was a beautiful day and I loved the scenery

 Such a cool waterfall
it looks man-made but it isn't

We walked around Mirror Lake

It was a good Saturday!

Summertime

To celebrate the start of summer
my mom and I attended a 3 hour solstice yoga event
that took place outside.
It was amazing.
It was held at the base of the mountains
in someone's gorgeous backyard & home
{a tad bit jealous I don't live there!}

It felt great saluting the sun,
putting my face in the grass,
listening to the waterfall,
& seeing birds fly above in the clear blue sky.

The event wasn't all yoga...
it was about life.
We met new people,
connected with the earth,
reflected on who we are
& where we are going in life.
And we enjoyed some delicious
raw, whole food.

We talked a lot about our path in life...
what it is we want in life and what we have to offer.
I have been doing a lot of thinking about what I want in my life
and I have come to the conclusion that I want to do what I enjoy doing
and what makes me happy.
And that is focusing on and improving life,
helping others,
being creative,
being passionate,
being out in nature,
being healthy & active.

I have been doing a lot of yoga
and I am amazed at how it is transforming my life and my body.
I am loving it and I'm so excited to further my yoga journey.
I think eventually I'd like to become a yoga instructor
and a certified holistic nutritionist and make that my career.

I mean I might as well live my dreams!

I'm excited for summer
it will be a good summer.
And I'm excited for my path in life.

Back To Work

So, after a few different interviews
I finally got a job.
It's not my dream job.
It's not the type of job I thought I'd get after PC.
But it's the right job for right now.
I am grateful to be working again
and making money.
I am working at a Hilton hotel
as a  front desk agent,
which I am glad I have previous experience in.
This first week is dedicated to training
and it's a pretty extensive computer training course.
To be honest, it's weird to be back in a professional working environment
after 2 1/2 years.
But I know it will be a good experience
and it will be good to meet new people.
I got lucky and work days from 7-3, during the week,
which is nice.

I am excited for this new opportunity
and I know more things are going to unfold because of it.

Pin-Test

There's no denying it
I am addicted to Pinterest
I have hundreds of pins for ideas
I'd like to do someday.

While my pins continue to pile up
I decided I needed to start testing out
some of those pins...why wait for someday?

When I saw this pin I knew I just had to try it.
I mean it's an egg in an avocado...

an eggvocado!

I followed the directions:
preheat oven to 375
hollow out  1/2 an avocado
use tinfoil to make a bowl to the place the avocado on
break egg into the center
and bake until egg is done
about 15 minutes.

At 15 minutes my egg was still raw looking
so I let it cook for 5 more minutes...
still runny.
5 more minutes....
still didn't look like it was cooking.
After 30 minutes I decided to chance it.
I cut into it and the egg was definitely cooked.
So maybe it would have been good at 20-25 minutes?
My mom and I shared it and we were surprised by how good it tasted.
You could also add salt and pepper, cheese, paprika, etc.

I would encourage you to try this
if you like eggs and avocados.

What If?

What if she did what she always wanted to do?

What if she took that cross county road trip?
What if she moved to Hawaii
and lived in a tree house?
What if she practiced yoga every day on the sand?
What if she put her toes in the ocean every morning?
What if she bought a sail boat to live in?
What if she opened up her own wellness shop?
What if she stopped worrying about doing what she's "suppose to do"
and just lived and enjoyed her life the way she's always dreamed of?

Cleansing Days 1,2 & 3

My cleanse is going well.
The first day was rough though...
I was moody, hungry and had a huge headache.
When I cleanse I usually get a headache
and I relate it to detoxifying.
But I am feeling great!
The best fresh juice I made consisted of:
1/4 beet
1 apple
ginger
6 carrots

But my favorite drink I've made is this super green drink
blended: a hand full of spinach
1/2 avacado
1/2 T hemp seed
2 dates
100% organic apple juice

It is tasty.

This weekend I'm going up to the mountains
I still plan on eating healthy but I just might have to have small slice of
birthday cake!

Cleansing Pure Health

I am dedicating the next few weeks to pure health.  Since being home I've been saying that I want to do a cleanse but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So now there's no better time than the present.  I am doing a 7 day cleanse and for the first 3 days my goal is to drink only fresh fruit and vegetable juice and the other 4 days I plan to mostly eat only fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with juicing.  And for the rest of the month I want to be cautious of what I eat, by only eating natural, whole foods (nothing in the ingredients that I can't pronounce).

I am doing this for a few reasons...I believe that it's important to detox/cleanse the body at least once a year.  And it's been a couple of years since I've treated my body to a cleanse.  Cleansing is good to help eliminate stored up toxins, it's good for your blood and organs, it's also good for your skin. For me personally, I feel like I need it and I like the way I feel after I complete a cleanse.
Along with my pure health adventure I am getting active! It's my goal to practice yoga at least 5 times a week, go for a hike every week, and spend 30 minutes outside everyday.  Since Sunday I've gone to 6 yoga classes and I must say I'm loving it!

To jump start my cleanse I made a salad with quinoa. Quinoa is a very versatile grain, it is high in fiber and a good source of Iron. It has a nutty flavor and cooks easily (like rice).

 Added radish & shrimp

The salad was very "healthy" tasting...I really liked the quinoa salad mixture I made by adding cilantro, lime, and garlic

Becky's Visit

I'm so happy Becky came to visit for 10 days!
We spent the first part of her trip in Utah.
Unfortunately the weather was sucky and a bit chilly
so we didn't get to go on any hikes but we went on a few bike rides,
went shopping, walked around downtown Salt Lake, drove up in the mountains,
went to Park City, baby sat little Reggie, cooked dinner, baked cookies, took the Trax to a martini bar, and on her last night here we took a drive up the canyon to see the fresh snow and we ended up seeing 5 moose!!

Then we drove to Laughlin, NV
and went seadooing on the Colorado river and lake.
We had a lot of fun!

There's nothing quite like being on the seadoo.
Grammary was there too, it was good to see her
and she enjoyed being on the water as well.

Before dropping Becky off at the Las Vegas airport
we walked around the strip and ran into this guy!

So funny

It was a great 10 days!
Life is good!
